Dr. Matthew J. Van Grinsven (Dr. VG) is an Earth systems scientist with extensive applied resource management experience working with the Cooperative Extension System, the U.S. Forest Service Northern Research Station, the National Park Service Inventory & Monitoring Program, local conservation districts, non-profit organizations, farmers and private landowners.

As an Associate Professor, Dr. VG is also dedicated to providing professional skills training and experiences to undergraduate and graduate students where ABL’s applied research activities commonly integrate advanced analytical instrumentation techniques, in-situ monitoring methods and data science strategies to generate scientifically rigorous and practically meaningful deliverables to resource managers, farmers and technical specialists.
